Follow Friday (Monday): Rachel Platten

I have had it in my head for a few days to do a post on Rachel Platten. This may be the first in a series of posts I do on lesser known artists I listen to; I’m not sure, we’ll have to see how the music and artist strikes me. In this case, Rachel has hit that nerve in me. She has quickly become a favorite new artist. Be Here is Rachel Platten’s debut CD. This is a CD I have found myself digitally spinning more and more over the past few days. It was release April 25, 2011. It is a great first release. She has a very strong voice and good songwriting skills. The playing and production on this album is great. A great first release. IT is one of the top CDs of 2011 and I highly recommend that you check it out.
From what I understand, Rachel has been playing the piano since the age of 4. Her skills definitely show through on this album. I’m not sure how long she has been singing, but her voice is fantastic and will only get better with time. Plus, she has a hidden talent that I have only, personally seen in one other artist (Braddigan)… she can beatbox!
While I have not seen her live, all the reviews say her live show is very energetic, engaging, and a show that you don’t want to miss! Her single “1,000 Ships” is getting serious radio play and taking the masses by storm. Be sure to keep an ear out for it!
